Scott Greiper: CEO & Founding Partner

Mr. Greiper is the CEO and Founding Partner of the Secure Strategy Group. Mr. Greiper has had a distinguished 30-year career on Wall St. and with his own investment banking practices. He has a track record of successfully identifying emerging growth technology companies and increasing shareholder value through business development, strategy, capital and M&A. In August 2002, less than one year after the tragic events of 9/11, Mr. Greiper helped to start Wall Street’s first dedicated investment banking practice in the homeland security industry. In 2008, he left Wall St. to launch the Secure Strategy Group, the first investment banking boutique dedicated to the defense and security market. Mr. Greiper has led more than $2.5 billion in capital and M&A transactions. He holds his FINRA Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses. He graduated from University of Chicago with a B.A., Economics, and attended Columbia University’s Executive MBA program.

Mark Sauter: Managing Director

Mr. Sauter helps SSG clients increase the value of their companies through strategic initiatives, capital raising and M&A. Mr. Sauter has served as founding COO of America’s first business accelerator for national security technology and manager of its contract with the NSA, America’s largest intelligence agency; leader of complex due-diligence assignments for major private equity groups focused on the defense and security sectors; and an investment banker to emerging defense and security companies. A published expert on high-growth defense, security and Big Data markets, Mr. Sauter is also co-author of McGraw Hill’s leading university textbook, Homeland Security: A Complete Guide. He served as an Army office in Special Forces and infantry units and holds FINRA Series 24, 63 & 7/79 registrations. Mr. Sauter is a graduate of Harvard University (mcl) and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Greg Pepus: Managing Director

Mr. Pepus is an experienced entrepreneur,  investor and technology architect with over 25 years of leadership in national security and defense innovation, beginning at IQT (then In-Q-Tel) in 2001. He was a Venture Partner at Amazon Web Services’ Venture Capital & Startups (VC&S) group, where he was lead for AI/ML, Cybersecurity and Quantum. He subsequently served as an operating partner at a well-known defense growth and buy-out fund. Mr. Pepus specializes in deep-technology investing and transactions across venture capital and private equity. He has been involved as a buy-side fund executive, strategist, corporate advisor and/or diligence provider in transactions leading to more than $2.7 billion in VC-backed exits, including Google Earth, Palantir and Infleqtion. He holds FINRA SIE and Series 82 licenses. Mr. Pepus earned a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Florida and an MBA from George Washington University.

Frank Tobin: Managing Director, Strategy and Corporate Development

Mr. Tobin served as a senior executive at Lockheed Martin and Thales USA; was the US CEO for a public European space company; worked with a private equity group for A&D buyouts; and currently serves as the interim, part-time CEO of the US subsidiary of a NATO-country defense tech provider. He is a familiar face at major US defense conferences and the offices of leading defense companies and government organizations. His expertise in defense began with hands-on work as an engineer on US missile and missile defense programs. Mr. Tobin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology.
